Position Overview
The Camp Support crew member is an entry level camp operations position responsible for supporting daily in camp hospitality and guest services in a remote wilderness setting. This role focuses on maintaining guest accommodations, assisting with daily dishes and kitchen needs, supporting camp organization, and ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and overall guest experience.
This is not a guiding position and no horse experience is required.
The ideal candidate has light cooking ability or an interest in helping with basic kitchen tasks and cleanliness, strong hospitality and customer facing skills, and a willingness to assist with a wide range of daily camp needs.
Experience or a strong interest in housekeeping, food service, customer service, or general labor is highly valued. Candidates must be dependable, detail oriented, able to handle the physical demands of an active outdoor camp environment, and comfortable living and working in a remote setting.
Core Responsibilities
Guest Services
Welcome guests upon arrival and assist with orientation to camp (Excellent communication skills are a must, we want guests to feel excited and welcome)
Help create a professional, warm, and organized guest experience
Remain by the fire on designated evenings to chat with guests
Respond promptly and respectfully to guest needs
Accommodation Preparation
Clean and prepare guest tents prior to arrival
Make beds, restock supplies, and refresh accommodations during stays
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation
Kitchen and Meal Support
Assist with dishes and light prep work
Support meal service
Help maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization
Follow food safety and sanitation standards
Camp Operations and Maintenance
Maintain clean and orderly common spaces
Assist with daily upkeep and small maintenance tasks
Monitor supplies and communicate operational needs
Laundry and Linen Management
Wash, dry, fold, and organize guest linens and towels (The laundromat is located 30 minutes from our basecamp)
Maintain efficient linen turnover and inventory
Crew Dog Care
This portion of the position will be discussed further on a case by case basis.
Feed, water, exercise, and supervise crew dogs while owners are away on pack trips (Additional payment will be discussed)
Monitor overall wellbeing and ensure dogs remain safe, comfortable, and in their designated areas
Work Environment
This is a live on site position located in the Bridger Teton Wilderness just five minutes south of Yellowstone National Park. Staff live in camp for the season and are provided a spacious wall tent with a twin bed (roommates are possible depending on staffing). The setting is remote and surrounded by wilderness, though most carriers do receive cell service in camp.
We are located about an hour and a half from Jackson, four minutes from the nearest gas station and small convenience store at Flagg Ranch, and about thirty minutes from Colter Bay. Weather conditions can vary throughout the season and wildlife sightings are common.
The work environment is active and hands on. Much of the day is spent on your feet moving around camp, maintaining guest tents, assisting with dishes and kitchen needs, handling laundry, and supporting general camp operations to ensure a smooth guest experience.
Wilderness Trails is a family run outfitting business, and our crew becomes a close knit part of that community. Camp life is hardworking, but it is also incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun. We’re looking for an experienced, hard working wrangler to join our crew in the Yellowstone backcountry. Our camp is located five minutes form the south entrance to Yellowstone in the Bridger Teton Wilderness. This is a hands on role for someone who is comfortable around horses, works well with guests, enjoys long days outside, and works well as part of a small team.
What you’ll do:
Lead and assist with guided horseback rides for guests of varying experience levels
Catch, saddle, and care for horses daily
Load and unload pack animals for backcountry trips
Assist with packing gear, food, and camp supplies
Maintain tack and equipment
Help with general camp responsibilities (water, firewood, cleaning, setup)
Ensure guest safety and provide a positive, welcoming experience
Share knowledge of the area, horses, and backcountry lifestyle
Connect with guests, carry conversation on the trail about the area, and read different personalities
Chat with guests around the fire in the evenings (this will be discussed)
What we’re looking for:
Strong horsemanship skills (catching, saddling, riding, handling different horses)
Confident, experienced rider (western tack)
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work long, physically demanding days
Comfortable working in remote environments and variable weather
Good attitude, team oriented, and reliable
Ability to communicate clearly with guests and crew
Previous guiding or guest facing experience is a plus
