Nanny Position

June - October, 2026

Location

Bridger Teton Wilderness, Wyoming

Five minutes from Yellowstone National Park, South Entrance

Compensation + Perks

DOE. One day off a week

Position Overview

Wilderness Trails Outfitters is looking for someone to join the crew this summer to care for a 4 year old child at their basecamp. This is a live in position based at a backcountry camp just outside Yellowstone, and it’s a unique role that blends childcare with day to day camp life.

At its core, the role is simple: keep the child safe, engaged, and on a steady routine while camp operations are running. Some days will be more structured, others will be more go with the flow depending on what’s happening around camp, so adaptability and a good attitude go a long way.

This is not a guiding position and no horse experience is required. The ideal candidate has prior nanny experience, genuinely enjoys being around kids, and is patient, dependable, and able to take initiative without needing constant direction. They should be comfortable handling the unpredictability of camp life, staying calm when things get busy, and still creating a fun and positive environment.

Personality fit matters just as much as experience — the goal is to find someone who feels like a natural addition to camp and can be fully trusted in this role.

Core Responsibilities

Childcare and Supervision
Provide consistent, attentive care throughout the day, acting as the child’s primary point of support in a busy camp environment
Maintain a high level of awareness at all times. Camp is active, with horses, vehicles, guests, and wildlife moving through regularly
Create a sense of structure and safety while still allowing for a relaxed, fun camp experience
Build a strong, trusting relationship while reinforcing boundaries, listening, and encouraging independence

Activity Planning and Daily Engagement
Fill the day with simple, age appropriate activities: outdoor play, exploring around camp, crafts, quiet time, and learning moments
Make use of available resources like toys around camp, occasional trips to the pool at Jackson Lake Lodge, and outings such as the library in Jackson

Daily Routine and Care
Prepare basic meals and snacks as needed
Handle nap time, rest time, and occasional evenings as needed
Help maintain a steady routine

Camp Life Integration
Be present during key parts of the day depending on camp flow
Stay flexible, some days will be busier or look different than others
Maintain a positive, professional presence around guests and crew

Light Support Tasks
Keep the child’s space, toys, and belongings organized
Help clean up after activities and meals

Work Environment
This is a live on site position located in the Bridger Teton Wilderness just five minutes south of Yellowstone National Park. You’ll be living in camp for the season in a wall tent with a twin bed (roommates are possible depending on staffing).

Camp is remote and surrounded by wilderness. Most carriers do get service, but you should expect to be fairly unplugged. We’re about an hour and a half from Jackson, four minutes from the nearest gas station at Flagg Ranch, and about thirty minutes from Colter Bay which has laundry facilities. Day to day life is active and outdoors. You’ll spend most of your time outside, moving around camp, and adjusting to changing weather and schedules. Some days are quiet and routine, others are a bit more unpredictable, flexibility matters here. Wilderness Trails is a family run operation, and the crew becomes a close knit part of that. People work hard, but there’s also a lot of laughter, shared meals, and really good moments mixed in. This role is a chance to spend a summer in a pretty incredible place while playing a meaningful part in a working family’s day to day life. Personality fit is very important to us.
