2027 WILDERNESS READING RETREAT

Join us for a three day, two night wilderness retreat for book lovers in Yellowstone country, hosted and led by Wilderness Trails Outfitters.

The retreat centers on reading at scenic overlooks reached by horseback, guided rides through the greater Yellowstone area, shared camp meals, and a small group setting that encourages connection, rest, and discussion.

What to Expect:

Before the retreat, we’ll all read two books—one nonfiction and one fiction—set during the same time period. The book selections will be announced at a later date, giving everyone plenty of time to read them before arriving.

Throughout the retreat, our time will include guided horseback rides, family style meals, and relaxed discussions about the books. Whether you’re an avid reader or simply looking forward to thoughtful conversation in a beautiful setting, this retreat is all about slowing down, connecting, and sharing the experience together.

Our Reading Retreat brings together a love of books, horses, and the beauty of the Yellowstone area.

Itinerary

July , 2027

Your experience begins at base camp at Wilderness Trails Outfitters, where the group will arrive, settle in, and get oriented to the camp and surrounding landscape. From there, days are shaped around reading, riding, and time spent outdoors in Yellowstone country. Participants will ride horseback to scenic overlooks, spend quiet hours reading in meadows and along the creek, and return to camp for shared meals and relaxed conversation.

Throughout the retreat, reading and community are the central focus. Time is intentionally set aside each day for uninterrupted reading in natural settings, paired with informal book discussions and group connection.

What you can expect to walk away with:

• Extended, uninterrupted time to read in outdoor settings rarely accessible to the public
• Genuine connection with fellow readers through shared discussion and camp life
• A slower pace that allows for rest, presence, and enjoyment of the setting
• The experience of reading in Yellowstone country, supported by guided horseback travel
• A sense of inspiration and connection built through books, nature, and community

This retreat is intentionally small to create a personal, relaxed atmosphere. Time is spent riding, reading, eating together, and enjoying camp life in a quiet, remote setting that supports connection, focus, and time away from everyday routines.
